Farzi Café has finally made its way to Pune, opening on the corner of Fortaleza in Kalyani Nagar. Using a blend of theatricality, modern cooking techniques and presentation to create a multi-sensory experience, Farzi Café means to appeal to a new generation of gourmands.
Yes, you read that right the first time. Brazilian cuisine has found its way to Pune – a sentence I never thought I’d hear myself say.
This August, Olive Bistro finally brought the Guppy by ai pop-up to Poona. Lead by their award-winning Chef Vikram Khatri, Guppy promised fun, contemporary ‘Japaneasy’ food and delicious Tokyo-style Cocktails. I was invited for the preview and was really looking forward to it, having sampled their fare once before at a Farmers’ Market.
Ellipsis is one of South Bombay’s trendiest restaurants. It’s the place where the ‘who’s who’ of Bombay go to see/eat and be seen. It has featured at the top of my ‘Places to Eat At’ list, but I never quite made the trip until this past April, when in celebration of their third anniversary, they launched a week-long discount. In spite of being quite broke at the time (and let’s not kid ourselves, Ellipsis isn’t cheap eats), I figured I’d just take the plunge and make it over there for a meal.
Of all the new places to eat in Bombay, Cafe Nemo is definitely top of my list. Out of the way from the hustle and bustle of Worli, the newly renovated Thadani House is a happy shade of yellow with some really interesting decor.
Last week I headed back to the first City I was lucky enough to call home – Bombay. I know the new and approved name is now ‘Mumbai’, but to me it will always be Bombay. As much as I deny it, this City holds a piece of me in its clutches. A fact I was duly reminded of after I spent a full two weeks there (something I hadn’t done in about 3 years), running around trying to get a taste of how much it has changed.
On one of these crazy/fun escapades, my friend and Bombay local herself – Roxanne Bamboat aka ‘The Tiny Taster’ planned a night out that took us hopping from one place to the next.
