A couple of weeks ago, a group of bloggers and I were invited for a tasting at Asian Express, a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) in Kalyani Nagar.
We were introduced to Mr. Vijay Kamath, Director of Food Intellect India Pvt. Ltd. (the Company behind ‘The Bowl House’ and ‘Asian Express’) who explained the concept of Asian Express to us, that it’s actually about bringing South East and East Asian food to the masses in the form of affordable Fast Food (and by Fast Food, I don’t mean the generic run-of-the-mill crap – Asian Express make all of their Sauces and Curries from scratch, I double checked) while also using fresh ingredients whenever possible.
Given the option in a Food Court, between Asian Express and other Fast Food franchises, I would pick Asian Express just because it’s hot, wholesome food. It’s definitely a healthier option than a burger and fries and also has kid-friendly items on the Menu.
Walking into Stone Water Grill (SWG) for the first time after almost 2 years, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. Countless nights of teenage shenanigans, birthdays, after-parties and more flood my mind. Their message for the night was ‘We Are Back’ – and back with a BANG indeed. As I joined an invitee table, we are introduced to Riyaaz Amlani, CEO and Managing Director of Impresario Hand Made Restaurants, the big daddy behind SWG, Salt Water Grill and so many more. With only minor renovations to the interiors, the ambience is rather soothing, with dark sofas and soft orange lighting.
I absolutely LOVE seafood, even though I’m really challenged when it comes to cleaning and de-boning it (somehow I am always the only one at the table to choke on a fishbone) so I stick to shellfish and fillets as far as possible. I recently came across this new Pune based company called Fishvish, which promised to deliver ‘Blast Frozen’ seafood directly to your doorstep – music to my ears, because I had been planning some experiments with fish for a while but I was not prepared to go to the fish market by myself.
Since Father’s Day is right around the corner (June 15th) the lovely folks at ‘Green OK Please‘ approached me to come up with a dish for Dads, using Organic Ingredients – how could I say no? In this day and age, with health problems and stress levels on the rise, putting together a healthy breakfast for Dad seemed a great way to start Father’s Day!
